Olly decided she needed to test our preparedness plan for going to the ER last night. It turns out it could use a little work by the way.
Yesterday Olly had temp of 101.9, hadn't eaten or drank much at daycare and was lethargic. When we got to the ER they also checked her blood sugars which were extremely low. She was quickly brought back to a room and setup with an iv, blood and glucose. She responded well for a short time before the blood sugars started to drop quickly and the fever came back up.
They again got everything regulated, did some more blood and urine test along with a chest x-ray all of which came back normal. However without knowing the cause of the fever or the drop in blood sugar they wanted to keep her overnight.
Lora stayed with Olly and Nate headed home with the hopes of sleep and getting Mara to school like normal (Mara made it to school, not sure how much we actually slept). Overnight Olly’s iv stopped working which caused her blood sugars to drop off again and temp to spike. Everything regulated again once they got the new iv in.
She is also suffering from constipation so she has been the lucky recipient of 2 enemas and miralax. Which seem to be helping.
Goals for today/tonight at the hospital are more feedings, and to figure out what is causing the fever and what is causing the blood sugar level to drop.
Thanks for all of the positive thoughts and prayers!!
Nate and Lora
