One Week Home

Hello Everyone,

We have been back home for a week now and are making the transition into our new normal. All of the new equipment is working as it should but everything takes a bit longer now, especially the morning and bedtime routines. Olly is currently on oxygen while she sleeps at night and is hooked up to a pulse oximeter during naps and overnight as well. During her hospital stay she would have spells where her oxygen levels would briefly dip into scary levels and return to normal quickly. So this is now something we want to make sure we are watching and monitoring.

Olly is also getting nebulizer treatments three times a day. The goal of the nebs is two fold. First to help open up her lungs and keep her breathing good. Second is to help reduce the silva and mucus, it seems to be helping with the silva for sure.

We also added one more piece of equipment that we are super excited about and has already made life a lot easier. We got on loan a Special Tomato Chair. It is a chair designed to help support Olly. I know many of you know we have had other chairs in the past but this one is better. It is on wheels making it much easier to move Olly around to keep her part of whatever it is we are doing. An added bonus is she seems to like being wheeled around.

Our last bit of news is that we have a planned stay at the hospital coming up in about 3

weeks while we start converting Olly to a Ketogenic Diet. We are electing to do this as an inpatient process of extreme caution. While we are hoping for a smooth transition to Keto there are a few know bumps in the road during that process and since Olly is prone to a few of the already we all feel that it is best to play it safe and do it inpatient so help is there if we need it. So at least part of Spring Break will be with the great people at M Health Masonic Children's Hospital.

Lastly just a reminder that the Chapman Family Benefit is this Saturday, February 22nd from 3 to 7 pm at the St. Francis American Legion.

As always we can’t thank you enough for all of the support. God is good.
